The work Stimulus / TPSMS (Trigger Point Self Massage Stick) explores how history manifests itself in the public body of architecture, its interiors and facades, and which effects this draws on a body. How can possibilities of reference and action be generated?
Exemplarily, the public space around Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin-Mitte is examined; a place of dramatic historical and political events by opposing parties — today a seemingly democratic site of spectacle and displaying.
In reference to the demanding Manifest “The Theatre of Cruelty” (1938) by Antonin Artaud who insisted for the theatre to affect the body with allied senses, the incisive mapping of the area's streets inspired the creation of a similarly shaped tool that invites for myofascial exercises.
By using this self-massage stick on one's own body to reach and stimulate the trigger points of traumata — a potential to physically connect with space — the practice speculates on the power to read our bodily symptoms and calls out against body denial in a disembodied space.
