Miriam Döring (she/her, they/them, born 1993 in Neuss, lives and works in Berlin) approaches the body as an epistemic and political site within the tension between vulnerability and resistance. Her practice engages with symptoms produced by normative systems, understanding vulnerability as an indispensable condition for individual and collective agency.
Anatomy, medicine, cartography, and mythology serve as points of reference in Döring’s examination of established narratives around the body. Approaching these fields as technologies of seeing, knowledge production, and regulation, she critically reworks the registers they shape, bringing scientific and mythical accounts into dialogue with embodied experience to develop speculative perspectives on health, porosity, and transformation.
Working across sculpture, installation, sound, text, and drawing, Döring translates her research into material processes and multisensory compositions. Here, bodily experience becomes a mode of encounter and coexistence in which boundaries between self and other, exposure and protection are destabilised and negotiated.
